Lindy Yeates

Artist's Statement

The regenerative promise of nature plays a hopeful counterpoint to the examination of loss and decay in my work. I collect old papers and discarded objects, looking for stories and histories that intersect with mine; a celebration of marks and stains and signs of ageing. Soft ground etchings, relief prints, ink and water colour drawings, scatter themselves amongst these salvaged materials and often find their way into concertina artists books.

My prints and drawings have been included in multiple exhibitions across Australia including the Rick Amor Print Prize, The Silkcut Award and The Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize; they also form part of numerous national and international collections. I work from my studios in Melbourne and on Phillip Island, Victoria.
