Lindy Yeates

Artist

I am a Melbourne based artist with a Bachelor of Fine Art, Printmaking from RMIT, Melbourne.

I find myself examining disused papers and objects for the marks and signs of ageing, for silent narratives hidden or long forgotten, for histories that may intersect with mine.

I then allow the  regenerative promise of nature to play a hopeful counterpoint to these musings and, through drawing, painting and printmaking, offer a gentle way of seeing the world.

Actor

As an actor I am represented by Emma Raciti Management. I have studied at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the UK and at the Howard Fine Actors Studio in Melbourne, Australia.

Having spent decades on the stage playing leads in Musical Theatre Productions like 'Mame', 'Fiddler on the Roof' and 'Oklahoma', performing in comedies like Alan Ackborn's 'Absent Friends' or Neil Simon's 'Lost in Yonkers', my acting career now includes roles in film and television.

Artist-in-Residence

I am a teacher with 25 years experience in the classroom and as a specialist educator in art and music.

I am inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to education and embrace the image of the child as a competent, curious and creative being, capable of speaking many languages to express thoughts, ideas, opinions and emotions concerning themselves and the world. I believe in creating environments where learning is led by the imagination and natural expressiveness of the child.
