'Ayr Creek,  Inverloch'

at Warrandyte Library

Artists Statement

Opportunity existed in this quiet space to sit amongst soft cushions and furnishings to ponder the questions and memories raised by The Sanctuary Project.

Where did you find sanctuary in 2020?  Where was your safe-place?

Where did you slow-down in lock-down? What did you learn?

Where did you find freedom in 2020?

The image exhibited here was of the Victorian coastline at Ayr Creek, Inverloch. This drawing was the one of many I drew during lockdown 2020. Sitting on a small dune, I listened to the sound of breaking surf and gulls calling, saw a small marsupial mouse make her home amongst the reeds and watched an elegant egret walk slowly up the creek in affected distain

Whilst in the Warrandyte Library, visitors were invited to write or draw their thoughts and experiences of lockdown and the global pandemic. These pages contributed to an artists book of collective memories and prints to be created by Lindy Yeates.
