Anzacs - Cape Woolamai Surf Beach
2021
ORIGINAL DRAWING
180 x 34.5cm
Archival fine-liner ink; three separate panels on old survey maps, 1931
This work was created over four days whilst I sat contemplating Cape Woolamai’s iconic surf beach on Phillip Island, Victoria. It was windy and warm so insects were out in their multitudes, flies, ants, dragonflies, mosquitoes, sand flies and midgies. As migratory birds and pacific gulls called overhead, I immersed myself in the colours of the Cape - bleached sand and silvered vegetation, deep shadows and pale sky - all the while perched on a little wobbly stool, halfway up a sand dune.
Unframed.
